Level 3 certificate in instructing weightlifting

The Level 3 Certificate in Instructing Weight Training is for instructors/ personal trainers who have experience of delivering independent sessions to groups and individuals. The certificate enables you to independently create, deliver and reflect on yearlong programmes, whilst monitoring and adapting sessions/plans as required for groups and individual clients. The course will cover further principles and aspects to a client’s development across all areas. This course will teach and then test your knowledge and skills as an advanced Weight Training Instructor.

26 lifts covered on course including:

Squats

Presses

Deadlifts

Olympic Lifts and variations using Barbells and Dumbbells

The BWL Technical Model for the Olympic Lifts

Assessment including client profiling; weight training risk assessments


HOW WILL I LEARN?

This is a blended learning course which allows students the flexibility to study theory elements online at a time convenient to them using comprehensive E-resources. There will be two days of face-to-face workshops covering all the practical components.

E- LEARNING/VIDEOS

Throughout the whole duration of your course you will provided with a number of online lectures to support your learning. These lectures will contain detailed information around topics related to your assessment. You will also have access to a personal tutor along with a closed Facebook group where you can get to know your peers.

MANUAL

Prior to you attending day one of your course you will be granted access to your online study manual. This manual will become your new best friend over the duration of your course containing all the information you need in order to pass your assessment successfully. This will also be a great additional resource to the E-learning lectures.

ON COURSE

Finally, you will attend two study days where you will cover all the practical components related to your job as a coach. This will also be an opportunity for us to apply all the theoretical knowledge gained through your E-learning lectures and manual.


HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed on your theoretical knowledge in the topic of weight lifting. This will be conducted through a series of knowledge checks during your E-Learning process.

PRACTICAL ASESSMENT

On the final weekend of your course you will be assessed delivering a practical session. Here you will have an opportunity to put into practice everything you learned on course. All elements relating to this section will be covered in thorough detail during your course.

You will be assessed on your ability to create details session plans relating to the topics covered in this course and specifically to weight lifting. 


entry requirements?

Entry level course for Personal Trainers

Have completed one of the following qualifications: BWL Level 2 Award in Instructing Weightlifting, a Level 3 Personal Trainer Qualification or equivalent as recognised by BWL

Be at least 18 years of age on the first day of the course

Have some experience of the lifts and weight training

Be able to communicate effectively in English
